The Game of Life…
I bargained once with a wise blind man
who proposed to me a tempting plan
your eyes you give to me, you’ll see
and I’ll offer you eternity.
I was your sight,
“your working eyes,
so I can see the warm sun rise;
for just one year I need them though
then I die, my time to go.

You see young man,
at birth God gave
a gift to me:
my body saved.
I cannot die, unless however
I make a trade
that lasts forever
I ask you now
Please, think it out
Make sure my son
you are free from doubt.
Live just one year
with blind eyesight
and you will hold the highest might”

I understood the bid quite clear
and felt the power drawing near
Without question I agreed
My sight was gone, my death, though, freed
I turned away
and he so too
“What a fool,” i thought
“My dreams come true.”

Fast forward now,
two thousands years,
and still I stand
Eyes filled with tears
The man was right,
He did not lie
My sight returned
I have not died.
I was foolish though,
I’m withered and tired
I’m over two thousand
My time has expired
I stay though,
I must
I’m all to blame
I offered my soul
For the love of the game.
