As star crossed lovers meet, then leave
Their heart becomes one,
Rush together then recede,

Times filled with joy and lots of fun,
Slowly fade away,
Until they are done,

What do these fated encounters mean?
Are they meant to last?
Or just a dream?

Can a candle that’s burned out, be lit again?
Or is love only one time?
Lovers now friends,

As the years go by and we all look back,
We try to remember,
But we all lose track,

The feelings we had, now only whisper and hiss,
Are we denying ourselves?
Of the feelings we miss?

As we look back and laugh on the things we said,
I wonder if somehow,
Part of us is now dead,

The part we gave, to the person we loved,
Might only be reclaimed,
When we die and rise above,

But perhaps letting go is just part of life,
Because life is too short,
For the past to bring strife,

Still, though as childish as it may seem,
I envy the people,
Who can bring back those dreams?
