::: The Road From Eden :::
This great love had brought me to Eden.
It was as perfect as my dreams had allowed.
Yes, I had been here before, on excursions
launched from my dream pillow, nestled to cheek.
Its regal cape had ensconced me,
with a warming embrace, meant to beguile.
Love’s bounty was mine to savor,
and I drank of it from goblets ever full.
But alas, I now stand perplexed, and shy of cape,
yet covered with its evil twin,
whose porous veneer wets me with my own tears
that cannot wash away lingering images that cling.
The road from Eden lies before me,
I am not alone here, soulful murmurs abound.
Banners of lost love wave from hands
moving in compliant regiments, shy of hope.
Though the road be long and unforgiving,
I now begin my search for a lost cape,
whose closet remains in Eden,
a bastion ill suited to the faint of heart.
The further my journey from Eden,
the closer to the heart, a committed resolve.
To again walk those avenues, void of sign or number,
yet flowered with garlands of hope.
When next I don that cape of dreams,
It shall shine in loving redress.
A dauntless commit, to stay all servitors,
eager to show me, the road from Eden.
