Breathe in, Breathe out They ask, "Why do you need an extra breath", Little do they know that one breath is my escape That breath is my therapy because life is my asthma.

I breathe for that needed release, For a chance to put my mind at ease. I breathe for that's the only thing I can control, And it helps to ease my soul. I breathe so my composure is sustained, Somehow hoping for my sanity to be maintained.

Just one breath alleviates my stress, Just one breath brings back that smile that so many have missed., Just one breath delivers that sense of peace, Even when my world is crumbling around me.

With that breath I find my inner strength, With that breath I have the courage to go another day because, With that one breath, I know that I only have God to thank.

So when I am asked if I need an extra breath, I proudly say "Yes", Because while it means nothing to some and everything to me, I know that I can take as many breaths as I need, because it leads to Being a better ME.
