::: Worn Soft :::

Feet encrusted in aged sand
worn soft in the rubbing

It will be luxury to die sinking on a heavy-balmed afternoon,
the sun three-quarters arched in her reflection

Wrap me in sea weed and forget
you’ve ever memorized the contours of my face.

Submerge me in seafoam to drift infinitely,
eventually sinking downburdened in death’s density.

Let me be driven under to be tossed back up again
bubbling in the watery churn

Do not cry when sea birds peck my elbows and
forearms mistaking me for carrion already dead

No, do not weep when I am enveloped layer by layer by
layer packed down in wet sand heavily
For I long to be defleshed in the final disembodiment
