Born Kimberley Elaine Williams in Naval Hospital, Pensacola, Florida, I was raised on the North side of Jacksonville in the Harbor View subdivision. Even though I was an only child, I wasn't totally spoiled.
My passion for writing developed in junior high school starting with an autobiography. However, it never materialized into anything great. After moving from Florida to Georgia with my mom, I graduated from Kendrick High School in Columbus, GA. From there, I joined the Navy and began writing poetry and short stories. My experience with the Navy enabled me to translate these life experiences on paper.
My love for creative fiction developed further after a girlfriend introduced to one of E. Lynn Harris' books, “Just As I am”. Afterwards, I was addicted to his writing style. Besides being a fan of E. Lynn Harris, I also enjoy Maya Angelou, Bebe Moore Campbell, Eric Jerome Dickey and others. My writings, including my poetry, are based on everyday situations everyone can relate to.
Between working in the Navy and traveling, I was able to complete college. During my first year in the military, I met my first husband, married, and had one son. but our marriage didn't last. We divorced and went our separate ways. My career continued for another ten years before I retired while I was stationed in New Orleans. My son and I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where we now reside.
My poem, “My One Last Cent” was published in Howard University's online publication, The Amistad, spring 2007. My current fiction works in progress are “When the Cycle Stops: It Takes a New Turn” and “The Friends and Family Network.”

::: 360 Degrees :::

360 Degrees, 365 Days, to do it all again,
Damn!

Thank God it’s over. Three hundred and sixty-five days I suffered again, damn.

Picked the same guy at least forty times and man. They all had different, eyes, different heights and features and still. I ended up with the same man in hand and wham. Came out with the same outcome. Alone in the dark, in the park, in the mall, damn. No call, no kiss, no love. Just me alone, a silly dove.

360 Degrees, 365 Days, to do it all again,
Damn!

Sparks fly, bottles pop, voices holler, others drop. Confetti flies, more bottles pop. I stand looking up and the peach drops. Look to my side and what do I see. A bigger mini me. The boy that I’ve nurtured for eighteen years and the other side is my girl, with no kids, but no acquaintances are in hand. Too touch, to hold, to caress. God damn. Is this
a sign, cause who ever you celebrate with; is who you will be spending time with. Forever. If forever is 365 days, in a year. Well, that would explain this year. Alone with my girls, no guy to call my own.

360 Degrees, 365 Days, to do it all again,
Damn!

This isn’t the life I had in mine for me. Meet guy on Wednesday. Dinner and movies on Friday, Happy hour on Monday, Starbucks on Tuesday. Talk all night until morning, three. To find out he’s horny. Horny and has another, to call, his own. Meet another the following week. This one's packing but he’s got me beat. Instead, being treated. I’m his treat. Fine mother sucker, but too slick for me. Meet another along the road, after a month or two of hell no’s. Cool, handsome and intelligent guy, but the brother is cheap. Hell no, good-bye, bye.

360 Degrees, 365 Days, to do it all again,
Damn!

Is it my style, my dress, my personality? Is it my breath, my walk, my teeth. It must be something about me that brings all this negativity. 360 degrees later and the truth I will see. I walk in the park, I talk in the dark, A few fast here and there, a couple praise gods and hell yeah’s. A lot of time with just me. A walk with the father, son, and he.

360 Degrees, 365 Days, to do it all again,
Damn!

Another chance to change life and what do I do. Take a chance one more time or two. I remember that guy, I saw in the store staring at me. The one working there you see. Nice looking guy, kinda quiet, dark, tall and slim. Not the same as Jim. Way more conservative, no bling, no gold in his teeth. No rocks, no tops, no big feet or locks. Just a simple style of his own, made me reluctant to say hello. I’ll give him a try or try and see if he sees me. On the next visit to the store, between the aisles we’ll see.

360 Degrees, 365 Days, to do it all again,
Damn!
