Born Kimberley Elaine Williams in Naval Hospital, Pensacola, Florida, I was raised on the North side of Jacksonville in the Harbor View subdivision. Even though I was an only child, I wasn't totally spoiled.
My passion for writing developed in junior high school starting with an autobiography. However, it never materialized into anything great. After moving from Florida to Georgia with my mom, I graduated from Kendrick High School in Columbus, GA. From there, I joined the Navy and began writing poetry and short stories. My experience with the Navy enabled me to translate these life experiences on paper.
My love for creative fiction developed further after a girlfriend introduced to one of E. Lynn Harris' books, “Just As I am”. Afterwards, I was addicted to his writing style. Besides being a fan of E. Lynn Harris, I also enjoy Maya Angelou, Bebe Moore Campbell, Eric Jerome Dickey and others. My writings, including my poetry, are based on everyday situations everyone can relate to.
Between working in the Navy and traveling, I was able to complete college. During my first year in the military, I met my first husband, married, and had one son. but our marriage didn't last. We divorced and went our separate ways. My career continued for another ten years before I retired while I was stationed in New Orleans. My son and I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where we now reside.
My poem, “My One Last Cent” was published in Howard University's online publication, The Amistad, spring 2007. My current fiction works in progress are “When the Cycle Stops: It Takes a New Turn” and “The Friends and Family Network.” |

::: Love Is :::
Your smile when you first past, your commanding stride, your talk, your stance. It’s the butterflies I feel, when I think of you. The warm embrace the talk, the conversation too.
Love Is
The light caress from a shoulder massage. The surprise gift, the coffee, the mall. Last night’s dinner fixed with care. The bubble bath, the scent in the air. The mellow music, the candle that flickered in the dark. The heat from your breath, in my ear after dark.
Love Is
The up and down of our bodies in motion, moving to Luther’s, This house is not a home, and other notions. The glistening from your body in pure moonlight. The climax that is reached, the screams, the hold real tight. The gentle soft kisses, felt over, and over again. The night’s last breeze flowing through the wind.
Love Is
Waking up, to your sweet face. Watching your eyes open, feeling your embrace. Getting up, starting over, love is, what it is. The day has changed the quiet’s gone, the kids are playing in the room. For love wouldn’t be love, as is, if they were brought from the womb. And when we’re gone, they will be here to experience this too.
Cause love wouldn’t be love, with out, the me and you.
Love Is...
