To Donna, Cassady, Kayla, Eve and Shea for John Thomas Kelly Jr. 3/6/2011

I remember us as children…
Dancing to merry tunes
and
wearing pristine white dresses
like little brides on our First Communion Day…
and
kelly green Girl Scout uniforms….
You with
bouncing brown curls
and shining eyes
the rosiest cheeks
and
the sweetest of smiles…
Who grew up
and a wonderful man fell in love
with you
and you with him…
You both forged out in this
beautiful land to
God’s own country
and made a beautiful life
with
your lovely daughters
you were blessed with….
But who knows why
things happen to
the kindest and nicest of men…
I pray God I knew…
I wish I could take
your pain away
like I took your hand
in our childhood games
and dances…
Instead
I take you and your daughters
into my heart
and my soul
and share my light within
to help light yours
to remind you
he is there too
The light within shines eternal
like God’s love
always
within
always
around
never
ever
ending…

All my love…..Cathie Hayes Ulasinski

Hiding Amongst Words

I am no where to be found
as I
disappearing in between
the space of
inconsequential words
and
thoughtless feelings

Barely as a shadow
I exist
and only flutter
to life
when
a true kindness
is said
and tentatively
become content

Warmth flows in
and I am
whole
for a while
till
the next time
when
reminded

It begins again

I slip
back in the shadows
and slip between
the cold comfort
of
the inconsequential words
and hide.

Letting Go

No more will I look to mountain tops
and think of wild kisses
and shivers down my spine
No more will a song cause me to
pause
and remember
for
I am finally letting go
after all this time
I know now
we
were never to be
we were just
a brief
dream
a
wonderful
magical
dream
but
now
as all good things do
it ends
So
my loving
beautiful
exquisite
friend
I am
letting you go
I am saying
my sweet
good bye…

Just My Lot

Have you crossed serious roads
and not looked back?

Part of your brain sees “destination,”
another part the walking

that “goads” the doing
though lacking directions.

Alone is final,
for then there is no one

to say the pillar of salt
behind could have been you.

construct

with apologies to Padgett Powell

if you could catch a swallow
or swallow a ketch,
which would work for you?

the way language wends its way thru us
is still mysterious & twisted
by “inner” logic unknown

the thought to word movement
is unfathomable. do you search
for the word & no one works at times?

as the “trains go by the screen”
we reach out into the unseen
to create that which you then see inside

A Love Story

Trouble, mounted,
waters running shy.
Win, mirrored as poltergeist of place that’s long been forgotten in
futures that have left a place
for us

Sticks and blood, we and heat,
as friction, rubbing incessantly,
in to,
oblivion.

Fire, smoke
broken, wars.
Dual placements evaporate as pressure,
– heat –
takes us, as well.

Mounted, clouds, fidget – action –
for loud, boisterous.
Dreaming of falling, incessantly.
Brings rain
to gravity

Dearest James, Jackie & Family

Even thought
She has left this life
She is not gone
She has not
left you
She glows
inside you
She shines so bright
She is your light within
Feel her warmth
Take heart
You
Are never alone
Her love is in you
Around you
Always
Infinitely

Be not sad
Celebrate her
Honour her
by living your life
the way SHE wanted
You to live it
And that
is to be
Happy
Joyful
Full of Love

With much love…Cathie and Walter, Bella & Tony.

Stay

You left me with no choice
With scattered lines of treacherous poems, riddled in excess, waiting for more
I’ve landed within grounds, fertile and bold
Manageable halls, turning, to boundless wombs
And my thought is still lost in you

Fragments with no image, sound, just raw remembrance
Your fragrance, and my love, make knots
In stomachs, bound to underworlds
You, bring fire

Finding you, taking back what is left of me in eyes
And bringing you with me, rising

Or drowning in flames because of
But I cannot remain

Scatter your own upon me, gently
As you come with me
Lifted, or,
we, the descendants

of bliss
