Learning Life ( for Dawn )

In the duskiness of the early morning
she rises no matter
how little
her sleep
her face tight from the many tears
that she cried
through
the night
the empty space next to her
a reminder
he
is not there
why
it is not fair
why
did he
have to go
why
did he
leave her
to
face everything
alone
everyone says that she is not
alone but that is
bull
they don’t know
they
don’t walk in her shoes
they don’t live in
her body
feel her pain
lie in this
empty
cold
bed
alone….
A single ray of sun creeps slowly through the gloom
touches her face
she blinks
a single tear
a sigh
she stands
remembers to breathe
and starts another
day
learning life
without him

How I See You ( for Suzi )

A fire cracker
A wise cracking smarty mouth
larger than life
who I wouldn’t want to be
any other way…
A beauty
A jewel
Tough on the outside
Scarred by life
but
deep inside
still willing
to hope
full of love
deserving
of love…

Keep your head held high
sweet girl
you are an original
you are special
You are You

Lucky are we to be
loved by you…

Anger

Surges with lightning bolt hitting the earth;
The waters heat up and the mighty oceans begin to boil;
Who can live in the volcano, its anger scorches like fire from brimstone;
The wind tempests with great indignation swirling in all directions;
Another bang is about to happen while the sun races down the earth with sonic fury;
The entire cosmic cringe up in fear;
Our diversity will be ruined, but who cares;
Our hopes will be dashed but they’re intangible now;
I am angry now and the world will end right this moment;
My emotions are driving me to extinction;
But, there’s a life beyond now;
And I will live it!
I will subdue me and live!

my inspiration

oil spills and such,
Green house gases errupt,
Goverment corrupt,
Have we not had enough?
Free speech on the line,
While the sheep,
Bleet, tweet and sleep,
Feeding into fake media frenzy,
Instead of unity,
Theres envy,
Brother can you spare a penny?
Back in the day it was a dime,
But its much worst now,
Its always taken a toll,
But it really hurts now,
Cause it seems we don’t care,
Faced with armageddons count down,
What I’m saying’s not profound,
I just say what you won’t,
Thinking that words can restore hope,
Is it money, sex or drugs,
Whats your mechanism to cope?
For me its the future,
Lil ones lookin up at me,
Lives in my hand,
Innocent trustin me….

Too Familiar

I am way to familiar
with the middle
of the night now.
It used to be
a wonderful thing.
A feeling of
freedom
and
creativity.
Now
I feel the darkness
and
the loneliness.
I long for sleep
but it eludes me.
More and more.
It teases me…
Brushes my fingers
Just
when I think
I have it in my grasp
and
I can pull
it’s comforting mantle over me
it quickly slips
away.

What is the secret?
What is it that I have to do?
I feel like I have forgotten how…

I am so tired…

How We Think of Vinny

How We Think of Vinny
Blue Jeans and an Islanders teeshirt.
A shy smile
but
a wicked twinkle in his eye.
What thoughts were going on in his head?
They say still waters run deep
and
that may be the case
with
Our Vinny
but
one thing we know
he was lovable.
You couldn’t help but love him.
Proud to be a Brooklyn boy
and being a New Yorker  he
never felt the need to explore beyond it environs
New York was his
All that he loved and needed was there.
The Islanders
The Yankees
Spumoni Gardens
His family
and most importantly his Dawn.
His other half.
Though he was silent you could see
in his eyes
how he loved her
and oh
how she loved him.
truly
one of the other.
We are not going to say good bye sweet Vinny
for that is final….
Instead…
We wish you God speed
and
May you fly with the angels and play hockey with them amongst the stars!
With ALL our never ending love…..Aunt Cathie and Uncle Walter

The Meaning of a Sound

His writing is a delight,
As you pronounce each sound
Soon enough, it will be found
The circle of love going round and round.

So is his love just a circle of sound?
Which sings of love this time around
Whispering in a constant astound
A lovers music that stopped too loud?

She spoke of love in pure melody’s oud
But he tried too loud with his forcing sound
To change the powerful abound
In circles that rotate around.

Now his shame hangs as a could
As he hears his lover’s sound,
In a past time when his love, wasn’t loud
And it filled a heart, with one simple sound.

Living in a Dream

The light turns on
Her life moves on
She dreams tonight
Her future bright.

She’s loved thousands of men
One of them a gentleman:
By the name of Ben
Whom she met back then.

In a dream that was
Anne remembers now
In her soul he was
Mr. Ben Ow.

” Why have you come?
I missed you so
Please just go!
But don’t take my glow!”

He ran tearless
Anne stood still.
She cried after him: It is all a dream!
You are not supreme!’
Her own words she wanted to retrieve,
What could she do to live?
In that magic world
Where young brides dresses twirled!

My Style

I like to read yeah that’s my style,
These words I eat then I make’em worth while,
I compile many thoughts and memories,
Review my file like Yo’ remember these,
Chill’n with my homies and you know we blow trees,
Fantasize about the promise land and what it’s gonna be,
The haters they be on us man and that’s alright with me,
I just try to keep it honest man cuz that’s the way to be

I gotta military mind with a refined game plan,
Kill it every time that I rhyme it’s the same plan,
My rhyme so cold that I dress it in layers,
Twelve years old I felt the power of prayers,
I’m speak’n to my God yo I hope he cares,
They try’n to go public with my private affairs,

Mother’s Day Poem

Mom, I’d like to thank you for all that you do
On this special day we come together to celebrate you
Today I will lift you up in praise
Humble and caring; sincere through out your days
Every time I think of you, my heart is filled with joy
Remember Bagma Mary! Mamma’s little boy
Sometimes I wonder if I even deserve a mom like you
Doing laundry, cooking, cleaning and encouraging too
All the days of my life you gave me love and support
You’d be the greatest athlete in the world, if only love were a sport
