I’m Leaving (Part Two)

You can’t tell me what to do
You know its just not like you
You phone me up you feel small
You cry to me like rainfall

Sometimes I just want to get away from your face and start new

Smile for me and let go
Fill this empty place of soul
Don’t lock me up deep inside
You held my heart, but it died

Each time I see you I want to run and hide to stay away

Leaving is hard, but I’ll survive
I won’t look back I must fly
Don’t cry to me deep inside
You held my love, but it died

Nice to know you, but I must be on my way to keep me sane

Amazing Sojourn

(A Slice of Life Shorts)

A Slice:
I hear that steam train
Coming down the rails
Its not the noise that’s moving
The mighty machine
Its not even the man inside
The monster.

A Slice:
Eating inside pocket size diners
Operating in coffee shop housing
Spending more in restaurants routinely
Then going home to the kitchen counter.

A Slice:
Time will tell
When there’s nothing left to see
And some will have hell
When other’s problems set them free

Mountains have been climbed
One rock at a time
You can’t always see the top
But the bottom is always clear

I move along
And sometimes it seems
I crawl.

A Slice:
I don’t belong here
Can’t you see by now
I’ve come a long way
And I’m staying right here

Be here now
Be right here
No way else to be
No where else to be
But here with YOU.

A Slice:
Everyone must come to an end
Pressure builds, the body declines again
Streams of light flow in a place of love
True love can overcome any obstacles
Pledging our lives and our hearts to one another
True everlasting friendship impacts our life.

We’ll Be Fine

I want to share my life with you
Explore the wonders of something true

There may be rough days down the road ahead
But with you by my side I know that we’ll be fine

I want to spend my time with you
Discover a world we never knew

We can embrace these crazy times
Because our love is strong I know that we’ll be fine

I feel like a child of love

Nothing will ever come between us
We can be happy and victorious
The evil-minded are on the run
And we’re still standing here as one

There may be rough days down the road ahead
But with you by my side I know that we’ll be fine

I feel like a child of God

I think this is my best song from “Transcendence” and was written two weeks after 9/11. We added a cello and it sounds beautiful.

Never Move At All

There is nothing left to do
When the bottom drops out from you
There is nothing more to say
Just try again someday (you can try again someday)

Easy said when you’re not the one down
But I’ve been there and I’m still kicking around

I don’t know what you’re thinking
Your mind is running like a steam engine
You keep on rolling forever
And never move at all (never move at all)

When your light grows dim and you feel troubles come
Remember this when you feel worrisome

We all have something to give
We all have something to give

Much At Stake

There was a time I seemed so proud
Never paid attention to that dark thundercloud
Then one day it began to pour
Never let up and never worked out
So I went to my ma and said look at me now
Where have we been and who are my true friends
Seems like nobody cares and secrets are concealed
Life goes on for those who dare

Can’t you see I’m falling apart day by day
Scrounging around for something to eat and my body won’t sleep
There’s much at stake with fire in the sky and in this lonely guy

I’m getting cold won’t you be my blanket
I’m so alone that sometimes I just forget

Can’t you see I’m falling apart day by day
Scrounging around for something to eat and my body won’t sleep
There’s much at stake with fire in the sky and in this lonely guy

There was a time I seemed so proud
Never paid attention to that dark thundercloud

This was written after I finished writing my concept album. At this point, I almost gave up regarding on recording the project because I would listen to everyone around me that didn’t and wouldn’t try to understand you can rise above hope. I will never listen to people that think inside a box. I almost took my life when I thought friends and family knew best. I’m not mad at them because they don’t know sh*t and I’m still living.

Empty Road

Fire trucks in the distance
Screaming a song
An emergency looming
Something is wrong

It’s burning away
With every second of every moment – oh yeah
It’s tearing the fabric in two
Never seems to slow down on this empty road

Helicopter hovering
Someone on the run
Just another day
Melting in the sun

It’s spinning around
With every second of every moment – oh yeah
It’s tearing the fabric in two
Never seems to slow down on this empty road

Military protection
Aiming at targets
An outside force
Never forgets

It’s ticking along
With every second of every moment – oh yeah
It’s tearing the fabric in two
Never seems to slow down on this empty road

Fire trucks in the distance
Screaming a song
An emergency looming
Something is wrong

This is another song from my concept album. Believe it or not, this tune was written two weeks before 9/11.

Break Point (Of Perception)

I feel mistreated wore down and beaten
Diagnosed by the system lost and unspoken

Somebody said something now I’m in the line of fire
I opened my heart to receive it and lost my worldly desire

There was once a momentary lap of reason
Now we’re all reaching the breaking point of perception
I’m on the high road
You’re on the low road
I’m on the high road
And you ain’t seen nothing yet!

I devote my life to freedom by giving my heart and my soul
I changed my way of thinking now I’m in the flow

There was once a momentary lap of reason
Now we’re all reaching the breaking point of perception
I’m on the high road
They’re on the low road
I’m on the high road
And you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Another song written in the psych ward when I was upset at the doctors and the system. Someday there will be another approach to treating patients and I will spend my life making sure of this through my love to change and improve humanity.

The Idealist

Every day flows
Like a passing show
And I will always question
The things we know
I’ve studied people’s philosophy
And found myself digging for TRUTH
I’ve read people’s poetry
And I hear the cries of youth

Sometimes I feel insecure
But I know it’s the driving force of the artist
Sometimes I stare into the mirror
And see the vision of the idealist

My message is simple
If you’re willing to see it through
My love is honest
And will always remain true
I’ve turned my back to melancholy
So I can begin to face the free
You don’t have to be talented
You just learn how to be

Sometimes I feel insecure
But I know it’s the driving force of the artist
Sometimes I stare into the mirror
And see the vision of the idealist

Every day flows
Like a passing show
And I will continue to question
The things we know

At The Wind’s Mercy

Do you ever feel like you’re being guided
Blown around like a leaf in a world that’s two-sided
Have you ever found yourself stuck between the valley
That’s where I found myself and sweet Sally

At the wind’s mercy
Let me drown away the past
At the wind’s mercy
We need love to last

Sometimes my tears run deeper than the ocean
And all my fears hide the only real notion
If I could take back all of the pain and its cause
I’d do it again just for the applause

At the wind’s mercy
That’s where I’ll be
At the wind’s mercy
Love is always free

This was the last song written for my concept album. It was a very strange time for me…being guided by Meher Baba, but believing I was channeling John Lennon and Hunter S. Thompson made it even beyond strange. I remember this was the last of a series of tunes sent to Dr. Allan Y. Cohen has my manic mind needed it approved. I remember being locked up in a holding tank reading the walls and believing my first incarnation in the world was Eve from the Garden of Eden. On the wall, I read that the name Sally was Hebrew for Eve.
I don’t know if that’s true, but you can imagine the explosion of imagination that followed. That’s when I believed Pete Townshend wrote “Tommy” for me and what was to come. “Sally take my hand – we’ll travel South cross land – put out the fire…the modern day Tommy (Rich Love).

Nevertheless

Teary eyes look onto you for answers,
Lies or truth, heaven in your arms now, not caring about after,
Replaying reality in my mind, hoping something will change,
Waking up from my sleep realizing that things are still the same,
My heart aches for things you cannot fully understand,
But I must be the bigger person and allow you to grow as a man,
Loving you endlessly, I hold you closest to my heart,
Three times a charm, I knew you were special from the third avenue start,
I dry my eyes with tissue made from love and devotion,
Know that my love for you flows deeper than a river of emotion,
So even after all is said and done, after decisions have been made,
I want you to know that my friendship will never fade,
You’re my best friend, my better half, and it’s a shame that everyone sees it,
It just takes certain events in life to allow someone to truly believe it,
Be happy where you are, let one of us live well,
But know life is too short to pass by the rare diamonds you’ve been dealt,
Just let our friendship stay strong, our bond can never be broken,
These are the words of a silent mouth that’s spoken.
