You are my active strato-
volcano, east of Naples.
You are my bohemian bar
next to City Lights Books.
My days are filled with poems,
pints, and stained glass windows.
My nights muddled in lava
like the poor souls of Pompeii.
I tilt my ale to your love
reflecting above earth spirits.
I tilt my head to death
sleeping under your Somma.
For you are Hercules,
the son of Zeus and Alcmeme.
You are battling the beasts,
clubbing for humanity.
Thus, it is you Vesuvio,
battered and beer bellied,
that pushes me through
to write your love songs.
