Trying

A stray to this household yet we bare the same last name
Confused on the apparent, I evade truth by pushing it away
Just wanting to be held, cradled even, without a doubt lingering in my mind
A dark figure that is of my loves seems clear yet hazy and hard to find
Giving him, pouring onto him, every bit of my soul
Hoping, wishing, dreaming that maybe a better chapter would unfold
So I could be eager enough to keep reading, hungry enough to keep feeding
Stronger enough to keep giving, barely human enough but keep bleeding
Aches to my heart long for a cure only he can prescribe
My all doesn’t seem to be enough no matter how much I try
So I keep trying.
Trying to show him, trying to give him the benefit of the wrong
Yet all the signs around me tell me that I should be moving on
I can’t. A girl with her heart on his sleeve
Yet I hold a hardened face hoping he doesn’t leave
I know I can do better, those I encounter tell me so
Yet I continue to fall for the same john doe
Let me know or let me go
I’m confused and alone.

Safe Haven

I’m from a bad place that I still call home
I’m from the city that’s never been a drug-free zone
I see Bum’s, Thug’s, Hoe’s, G’s and Scrubs
I know we all human so we all need love
I live for life I’m brighter than high beams
I know it gets better it’s not as bad as it seems
If I cross these tracks I’ll be in Central
We should own houses stop living in rentals
I’m from Dodge City the Noya Narf Richmond
You’ll get took out the game if you get caught slippin
They’re on Turf Politics Pills Purple and hollowtips
Create R.I.P shirts and love to model it
I see police brutality looking out my project window
Get slapped in the face with dope baggies every time the wind blow
Young dudes carry kaddaz outta they’re section
12 year old cousin go to school with a “Smith and Wesson”
They shot they stabbed they killed my kin
Keep my focus on my future put my pain in the pen
I’m from a bad place that I still call home
I see what I see because this is what I condone

In My Dreams

Fall asleep
to escape the ills of the world
undress my mind
to discover that lost little girl
I’m so cold
Knowing that tomorrow ain’t promised
Dancin on the clouds
Run through life so brolic
I see you smilin no pain in the end
Rest my head there you are so until we meet again
Save a spot for me just incase I get in

Carpe Deim

I know I’m blessed
but the what If’s got me thinkin out loud
Tryna get up out the hood
One day maybe rock the crowd
and these cowards aint sh*t
They don’t scare me a bit
I ain’t worried bout a bullet
I know life’s a b*tch
So why
would I focus on the negative
I’m positive my future look bright
Got my foot up in this college sh*t
Destined for greatness
Mama said that I’ma Queen
These ignorant dudes could never sale me a dream
The lil mama’s gotta know what they about
That’s why I give it to them raw every time I spit it out
Nobody else gone do it
Worried bout they jewlz and shoes
Cars and rims acting like modern day coons
Call it what you want
this sh*t is type redundant
If you bought the BS have ya money refunded.

Haves and Have Nots

It’s a cold world out there,
the haves versus the have nots,
so unfair,
that the poor worry for food,
the rich without care,
certain things we should share,
imagine living without air,
or no coats for your kids and its brick outside,
black girl lost,
turning tricks outside,
and just last week one of my mans died,
victim of a drive by,
ain’t reach 25,
so much pain in our lives,
but we keep it inside,
system designed to f*ck us,
the beast eatin our pride,
but Babylon fall soon come,
instead of spittin what sells,
I spit the truth from my tongue,
lighting bolts of wisdom,
like Zeus Imma come,
not for drama son,
only revolution,
not Nasir,
but I got myself a gun,
shot the Sheriff,
now they got the brother on the run…

Fall Of An Empire

In a tunnel of darkness.
On a day of disaster.
With the eve of destruction.
Rising above the empire.

In the morning of chaos.
In the midday of decay.
The night air seals the coffin,
of the wounded brigade.

In the morning a silence.
By noon time still silent.
At night it is quiet ,
As we dig countless graves.

At midnight I found him.
Curved rock all around him.
As the emperor survived,
The barbarian’s raid.

On A Roll

And all the fleeced have gone to sleep.
The last chips collected, there are no cheap
Replacement modes to gather wits or
Count what bodes ill or otherwise.
As flies pick the crumbs of buffets
Closed for the brief time it takes
To clean the commodes before the next
Dreamers arrive to wish upon the roll
Of the die that never ends, but only
Contends with the lack of dreams outside.

Distortion Distraction

Distortion/Distraction strong, feeble or weak reaction
Distortion/Distraction a leader for change and maturation for a doomed nation, this is surely a distraction that we are all facing. Fake politicians with fake words and a fake message for all of us to listen. They cook up a storm and blow smoke up our ass inside of our homes, inside my grandma’s kitchen while my grandma’s wishing her soul’s at rest while the perfect explanation for all this sh*t would be better social security. Medicare, and a government that really gives a sh*t whether your here or there, alive or dead. Then she tries to digest a pill the size of her head for her heart while the pharmaceutical companies ceo’s lye in their big ass beds not caring whether or not my grandmas alive or even dead. Now the lobbyists get the seats and then fight for something that they don’t even believe or need to survive this is the classic example of distortion/ distraction right in front of your eyes.

Don’t let words get distorted and distract from the real issues.

Keepin it Ill

My whole persona real,
and don’t really care if I cop me a deal,
don’t walk with it,
but keep my eye on the steal,
come talk wit it,
and then you dying for real,
but I ain’t a gangster,
ain’t my desire to kill,
but for this freedom,
I’ll hold this iron for real,
iron like a lion in Zion for real,
and respect to the Kaya Man,
there’s no denying my zeal,
I got the eye of the tiger,
and don’t rhyme for the thrill,
my timing is ill…
